10/5-10/9: "What is one of the kindest things someone has done for you?"
Since the passing of the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (2010), all public schools start the first full week of October with a statewide Week of Respect. Sparta High started off the week with a bang. The club, Students Taking Action in the Community (STAC), requested everyone’s participation on Monday, by creating a blue shirt day in order to stand in solidarity with victims of bullying. Our 9-11 graders listened to motivational speaker, Yahya Bakkar, and the art club contributed to the Week of Respect with a beautiful paper crane project.
So in honor of the Week of Respect, SHS is showing their compassion. This week we asked Spartans to shine a light on an individual who has done something remarkable for them:

“When I was diagnosed with colon cancer nine years ago, someone had purchased opening day tickets for the New York Jets game against the New England Patriots as a gift to my family and me to cheer us up. Thankfully, I am now colon cancer free – but I will never forget that.” – Mr. Rehm, TCCS Teacher
“When I got my wisdom teeth out, Bayleigh (Takacs) came over and totally just took care of me. She made sure I was comfortable, helped me with my ice, and brought my favorite pudding and balloons. “ – Jamie Rennie, Sophomore
“For four days straight after my dog died, there was always someone at my house to help me cope and get my mind off of it.” – Steven Sullivan, Sophomore
“This is a broad question, but my friend Caroline gives me food everyday and that’s much appreciated! “ – Chloe Caldi, Freshman
